We have events throughout the year we'd love you to be part of.

The Friends of Cannon Hill Common cannot give the go-ahead for commercial events or other large / private gatherings on the Common. Please contact Merton Borough Council at events@merton.gov.uk. Please also see the Merton website for further advice: Guide to holding your event in Merton

Litter pick
We'd be delighted if you would join us for a spring clean!

But please come at any time.

Light refreshments will be provided at 12:30.

Please meet at the 'bridge' by
the lake on Cannon Hill Lane.
​
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. ​
Litter pickers and bags will be provided, but pease bring gloves if you have them.

Dogs welcome!
Bird walk
Jean Tipler has kindly agreed to
lead another Bird walk.

SATURDAY 29 th MARCH 2025 AT 11 A.M.
All welcome.
Please meet at 11.00 a.m. on the bridge by the lake on Cannon Hill Lane. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The walk could last up to two hours, and we suggest that you bring binoculars with you as some of the smaller birds are difficult to see otherwise. Preferably no dogs as they are likely to disturb the birds.
Blossom on the common
Blossom heralds the start of warmer weather
and the resurgence of new life. Insects emerge from hibernation to enjoy the nectar and pollen and many of us look forward to autumn fruits.
The Japanese are famous for “Hanami”: enjoying the transient beauty of cherry blossom. But blossom is also for all of us here in Merton.
On Cannon Hill Common there is a lot of blackthorn, the earliest to flower, several plum trees, and the apples in the fruit hedge and also plenty of beautiful hawthorn.

The deadline for entries will be 18thMay 2025. The prize winner in each category will be notified by
the end of May.
We will put the best photos on our website
for all to enjoy.
